Compensation benchmarks for remote closers, high-ticket salespeople, account executives, SDRs and BDRs in the US and UK.
Published 01 August 2026 · 14 min read

Most earnings advice in the remote sales space is either hype or outdated. This report is different. We collected compensation signals from job postings, verified salary platforms, and recruiter salary guides across the US and UK, then normalised them into one practical benchmark. The result is a clear picture of what remote closers, high-ticket salespeople, account executives, SDRs and BDRs actually earn in 2026 — by experience, by role type, and by deal size.

Definitions
WHAT DO ALL THESE JOB TITLES ACTUALLY MEAN?
Remote closer / high-ticket closer
A salesperson who closes deals over video calls, usually for offers worth $4k–$25k. Often commission-only or base-plus-commission.
Remote salesperson
A broader label for any sales role done remotely. Can mean closer, AE, SDR, or a hybrid depending on the company.
Account Executive (AE)
A full-cycle or closing role inside a company — usually SaaS or B2B — with a base salary, quota, and 50/50 pay split.
SDR / BDR
Sales Development Rep or Business Development Rep. Entry-level outbound roles that book meetings. Lower pay, but the most common path into remote sales.
By experience
WHAT CLOSERS EARN AS THEY LEVEL UP.
Annual earnings range by experience level (USD)
Bars span the typical low-to-high annual earnings band for remote closers and high-ticket salespeople at each stage.
Source: BackPack Closers Research, 2026
| Experience level | Low | High |
|---|---|---|
| Entry-level (0–6 months) | $24,000 | $60,000 |
| Intermediate (6–18 months) | $60,000 | $144,000 |
| Experienced (18+ months) | $144,000 | $300,000 |
Annual earnings by experience level
Entry-level (0–6 months)
$24,000 – $60,000
Typically one client, a developing close rate, and inconsistent lead flow. Most beginners land in the lower half of this band until they can consistently close 15–20% of qualified calls.
Intermediate (6–18 months)
$60,000 – $144,000
Closers with a track record, stronger call control, and often 2–3 clients. Close rates of 25–30% on qualified leads push earnings toward the upper end.
Experienced (18+ months)
$144,000 – $300,000
Proven closers working premium offers, higher show rates, and sometimes mentoring junior reps. Top 10% performers can exceed this band during strong quarters.
The pattern is clear: the first six months are the hardest. Most beginners earn between $2,000 and $5,000 per month while they build call control and a client base. The real inflection point happens between month six and month eighteen, when close rates and lead flow stabilise.
By role type
COMMISSION-ONLY VS. BASE + COMMISSION VS. AE.
Annual earnings range by role type (USD)
Commission-only remote closer, base-plus-commission remote salesperson, account executive (AE) and SDR / BDR compared.
Source: BackPack Closers Research, 2026
| Role type | Low | High |
|---|---|---|
| Commission-only remote closer / high-ticket salesperson | $36,000 | $240,000 |
| Base + commission remote closer / remote salesperson | $48,000 | $180,000 |
| Account Executive (SaaS/B2B) | $80,000 | $220,000 |
| SDR / BDR (entry-level setter) | $42,000 | $85,000 |
Annual earnings by role type
Commission-only remote closer / high-ticket salesperson
$36,000 – $240,000
No base salary. Earnings are a direct function of calls booked, show rate, close rate, deal size and commission percentage. High upside, high volatility. Often advertised as remote closer, high-ticket closer, or remote salesperson.
Base + commission remote closer / remote salesperson
$48,000 – $180,000
Usually $2k–$4k/month base plus 8–12% commission. More common at established companies, SaaS firms, and UK/European employers.
Account Executive (SaaS/B2B)
$80,000 – $220,000
50/50 base/variable split is standard. OTE assumes 100% quota attainment; actual earnings vary widely with quota difficulty. Also called AE, sales executive, or B2B salesperson.
SDR / BDR (entry-level setter)
$42,000 – $85,000
Sales Development Representative and Business Development Representative roles focus on outbound prospecting and booking meetings, not closing. Lower pay but the most common entry path into remote sales.
The trade-off is risk for upside. Commission-only roles offer the highest ceiling but no floor. Base-plus-commission roles cap upside slightly but smooth out bad months. SaaS account executive roles behave like traditional enterprise sales: structured quotas, 50/50 splits, and clearer career progression.
By deal size
THE BIGGER THE DEAL, THE BIGGER THE PAYDAY.
Annual earnings by deal segment
SMB / high-volume
$60,000 – $135,000
Deal sizes roughly $2k–$8k. Faster cycles, more calls, lower per-deal commission but higher volume.
Mid-market
$90,000 – $180,000
Deal sizes roughly $8k–$20k. The most common hunting ground for experienced remote closers.
Enterprise / strategic
$160,000 – $350,000
Deal sizes $20k–$100k+. Longer cycles, fewer calls, higher per-deal payouts. Often requires previous B2B sales experience.
US vs UK
TWO MARKETS, TWO DIFFERENT PAY PROFILES.
| Region | Role | Typical range | Median / OTE |
|---|---|---|---|
| United States | Remote closer / high-ticket closer | $60,000 – $240,000 | $111,504 |
| United States | Account Executive (SaaS/B2B) | $95,000 – $210,000 | $196,000 |
| United Kingdom | Remote closer / high-ticket closer | £28,000 – £120,000 | £55,000 |
| United Kingdom | Account Executive (SaaS/B2B) | £60,000 – £130,000 | £95,000 |
Key insight: US remote closers have higher top-end potential because the market supports larger commission-only deals. UK closers see more base-plus-commission structures and steadier cash flow, but the ceiling is lower in GBP terms.

WHAT COULD YOU ACTUALLY EARN?
Move the sliders. This is based on an $8,000 product, a 55% show rate, and a 30% close rate — the industry averages we see every day.
One hour = one booked call.
How many days you take calls.
Setters get 3–7%. Closers get 10–15%.
Before tax. Based on 87 booked calls, 48 people showing up, and 14.3 closes per month.
This is a model, not a promise. Your actual earnings depend on the offer, the lead quality, and how quickly you get good on calls.

Methodology
- 1We aggregated publicly listed compensation ranges from remote closer, high-ticket salesperson, account executive, SDR and BDR job postings, verified salary platforms, and UK/US sales-recruiter salary guides published between January and July 2026.
- 2We normalised all figures into annual USD and GBP equivalents. Where sources listed monthly figures, we multiplied by 12. Where sources listed OTE, we treated that as the 100% quota-attainment ceiling.
- 3We deliberately excluded extreme outlier claims (e.g. '$50k/month guaranteed') because they are not representative of typical market outcomes and cannot be verified.
- 4The report covers commission-only closers, base-plus-commission remote salespeople, full-cycle SaaS/B2B account executives, and entry-level SDR/BDR roles. It does not include customer success or sales-management roles.
- 5We will refresh this dataset quarterly as new salary guides and verified platform data become available.

Frequently asked questions
What counts as a 'high-ticket' offer in this report?
We define high-ticket as any offer sold via live conversation with a transaction value of roughly $4,000–$25,000 (or GBP equivalent). Offers below $4,000 behave more like low-ticket inside sales; offers above $25,000 move into enterprise/strategic territory with different compensation mechanics.
Are remote closer, high-ticket salesperson, account executive and SDR all the same thing?
No, but the terms are often used interchangeably online. A remote closer or high-ticket salesperson usually closes deals over video calls, often on commission only. An account executive (AE) is a full-cycle or closing role inside a company, typically with a base salary plus quota. An SDR or BDR is an entry-level appointment setter who books meetings but does not close. This report includes benchmarks for all four.
Why is the US range so much wider than the UK range?
The US has a larger pool of commission-only remote closer roles, higher deal sizes in some niches, and a stronger SaaS/B2B market. The UK market has more base-plus-commission structures and lower average deal values, which compresses the top end but also reduces downside volatility.
Do these numbers include tax and expenses?
No. These are gross market figures. Independent contractors should budget 25–30% for self-employment tax and benefits, while employed account executives should consider pension contributions, healthcare, and any clawback provisions in their commission plan.
