The "No Experience" Remote Sales Starter Kit

A four-week starting plan for anyone breaking into remote sales without a degree or prior sales background.

If you've never sold anything and you want to break into remote sales, this is where to start. Four weeks. Free. No fluff.

Week 1 — Ground yourself in the industry

Goal: know the vocabulary and the roles.

  • Read Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss (or listen to the audiobook)
  • Watch 10 real remote sales calls on YouTube (search "sales call teardown" and "high ticket closer call")
  • Identify which role fits your temperament: setter (high volume, entry-level) or closer (longer calls, higher stakes)

Week 2 — Build the assets

Goal: something to send when you apply.

  • Résumé — one page, rewritten in sales-relevant language (see the interview playbook)
  • LinkedIn — new headline, new about section, new profile photo if it's more than two years old
  • Loom — 60 seconds, introducing yourself as if pitching a prospect

The Loom is non-negotiable. It's what will separate you from the résumé pile.

Week 3 — Practice the calls

Goal: run 10 mock reps before your first real interview.

  • Find a partner (friend, coach, community, online role-play group)
  • Run 20-minute mock calls three times this week
  • Record every single one
  • Watch the tape the next day

You will hate watching yourself. Do it anyway.

Week 4 — Apply with a wedge

Goal: 10 targeted applications, each with a personalized Loom.

  • Do not blast job boards.
  • Pick 10 companies you'd genuinely like to work for
  • For each: research the offer, record a 60-second Loom, send it with your résumé
  • Follow up once, one week later. Then move on.

Ten targeted applications beat 200 blind ones. Every time.

What to do after week 4

If nothing has clicked yet, don't panic. First remote sales roles usually take 6–12 weeks to land from a cold start. Keep the applications going, keep improving the Loom, keep running mocks.

If you want a shortcut through the parts that trip up most beginners — the Loom, the mock call, and the hiring-network intro — that's exactly what our Academy program does. Book a free consultation and we'll tell you honestly whether it's worth it for your situation.
